BBM with New Organizational Structure and Corporate Design

The new corporate design of the BBM Group emphasizes the three business units as pillars of a comprehensive product and performance range, while transferring the established logo to the new corporate design – with clear colors and structures.

The new corporate design of the BBM Group is aligned to the company’s business development in recent years and creates unified visuals appropriate to the Mining, Civil Engineering and Mechanical engineering business segments, as well as to the Group as a whole.
As a key symbol of the BBM Group, the corporate design fittingly expresses that the sum of the parts equals the coherent whole that makes our portfolio a comprehensive and unique offering in the European marketplace. The new website of the BBM Group reflects the company’s identity as well: modular yet interlinked.

Kö-Bogen Is Taking Shape

One of the most ambitious construction projects currently underway is continuing to take shape. Kö-Bogen provides the city of Düsseldorf with a new center, a heart that meets the needs of the 21st century. On-site working conditions pose a special challenge, as daily traffic and business above ground continue as usual.

A constrained working environment, extreme time pressure and complex boundary conditions – these challenges make this project that calls for proven surface construction and civil engineering experts perfectly suited for the BBM Group. The North-South tunnel is about 800 meters long. A BBM team comprised of around 15 members is building it within just a few months – while accommodating the normal traffic flow – in 10- to 15-meter blocks. The additional connections required to further interlink and relieve the load on urban traffic pose special challenges. A connection to the Wehrhahn subway line, for instance, is created by a stairwell that has to be built as part of the project. In addition, the underground parking garage of the Dreischeibenhaus high-rise will be connected to the tunnel as well.

The work is carried out using the cut-and-cover method with a previously created box of shoring (diaphragm) walls. A construction period of about 15 months has been scheduled for the project. The North-South tunnel at Kö-Bogen is to be completed in August 2015. An interim assessment shows that the time schedule, safety and quality requirements, as well as all other aspects of the construction plan, have been smoothly adhered to.
The BBM expert team that in partnership with general contractor Wayss & Freytag has been performing all the formwork and concrete work in normal traffic flow with maximum dedication and top performance is equally committed to delivering a perfect end result of the project.

Bauma 2013 Review

BBM Maschinenfabrik Meran GmbH and the BBM Group were featured at the world’s leading construction trade fair with an informative and impressive booth in the mining segment. The assessment of the event is positive across the board.

Visitors from around the world flocked to the BBM booth. Everybody was pleased about the quality of the meetings with customers and the positive feedback received on the extensive product range.
The BRH 130 roadheader unveiled in the outdoor area became an eye-catcher and popular photo subject. It shows that BBM machines provide users with customized and flexible solutions. In addition to the roadheaders, first tillers and milling loaders attracted particularly strong interest. A welcome side effect: visitors not only showed keen interest in new machines but also in retrofitting options and second-hand machines.

Green Light for Wehrhahn Line in Düsseldorf

Two milestones of the Wehrhahn Line have been completed on schedule. The construction projects of the two stops, Graf-Adolf-Platz and Kirchplatz, have now been handed over to the general contractor. The BBM Group that was responsible for the construction completed the contract on time and by delivering the quality characteristics that are typical for the company: outstanding results, maximum safety standards and reliability in all aspects. BBM experts had assumed responsibility for the entire shell construction and other carcassing work, a large part of which involved water-impermeable concrete, on a length of 125 meters, respectively.

Düsseldorf continues to pick up momentum, with new dimensions of urban and transportation planning opening up at the city’s major traffic hubs. It goes without saying that the BBM team’s experts are in exactly the right place here, bringing practically unique knowledge in road and tunnel construction, particularly in the field of concrete work, to the challenge. Not least thanks to these fortes, the next large-scale BBM project in road and tunnel construction will soon be launched in Düsseldorf, as the company’s work will continue as part of the Kö-Bogen project.
